The San Diego Baha'i Youth
Workshop is part of an international organization of youth who use the
arts - both creative and performing - to proclaim to humanity, both
young and old, the messages of the oneness of mankind,
the need for elimination of all forms of prejudice
and violence and the importance
of unity through diversity. This concept
was founded in the Los Angeles area in 1974 by Oscar Degruy, whose goal
was to provide the "youth of the streets" an opportunity to be involved
in a positive way in changing their lives, their communities and their
world. There are currently over 100 Youth "Workshops"
in the United States and 40+ groups
internationally. These Workshops
are sponsored by local Baha'i Communities.
Membership is open to any youth regardless of religious affiliation or
cultural background who want to demonstrate the principles of peace and
harmony for all peoples.
